V belts (also known as vee belts or wedge ropes) has been the most popular type driving belt for power transmission.
The first V-belt was developed in 1917 in America. In the early 1920s, vee belts have been extensively in industrial and agricultural machines. Now, they have been the basic belt for power transmission.
In all driving belts of the whole world, measuring by rubber consumption proportion, V-belts have taken up 65% of the total rubber consumption, toothed belts 25% and flat belts less than 10%.

Where could we use them?
Vee belts have wide range of specifications, including Y, Z, O, A, B, C, D, E and so on.
Y and O series belts are primarily used in office equipment like typewriters and trimmer and household appliances like washing machine, juice extractors and vacuum cleaners, etc.
A, B, C, D and E vee belts are primarily used for heavy-load operations. Particularly, D and E series V-belts are suitable for ships, yacht and electric power industries.
Fan belts for driving fans in internal-combustion vehicles (automobiles, and tractors, etc.) are also included in V-belt category. Fans belts are also regularly used in generators, compressors and power pumps, etc.
